The Enumclaw School District board approved multiple governance and operational items on May 18, including three resolutions, a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendment, a special inspections and testing contract, and several policy and personnel actions.
Resolutions: The board approved three resolutions brought forward in the resolutions block. Resolution 11 68 authorizes a 180‑school‑day waiver for transitional kindergarten that replaces nine traditional classroom days with student‑led conferences and teacher collaboration to align with the ECAP program while meeting state hour requirements. A second resolution listed in the agenda (transcript: “resolution 1 1 6 9”) covered a 180‑day waiver related to high‑school scheduling for grades 10–12 and the incoming 9th graders; the board approved it. The board also approved resolution 11 70, which authorizes a guaranteed maximum price amendment for a capital project.
Contracts and procurement: The board approved a special inspections and testing contract for an ongoing construction project and voted to authorize the GMP amendment referenced above.
School naming: The board voted to name the new elementary (Elementary School 6) and its mascot the Evergreen Trail Blazers following a committee process that reviewed more than 250 name submissions.
Policies, payroll and consent agenda: The board approved second readings of a set of policies (listed on the agenda) and approved payroll, vouchers and a consent agenda that included personnel actions, curriculum adoption proposals, surplus items and a proposed fee schedule for the 2026‑27 school year. Board members noted the departure of the Black Diamond Elementary principal in the personnel report and said a posting for the opening was made.
All motions in the meeting were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the transcript records chair calls for “all those in favor?” followed by “Aye” and “Motion has passed.”
