Pleasantville outlines three-phase capital project timeline; seeks community volunteers

Staff member for the Pleasantville Union Free School District outlined a three-phase capital project and a timeline that will stagger construction to minimize disruption to the school year.
"Pleasantville forward together can now be characterized as a three-phase project to reflect the time sequence necessary to complete the work within the framework of the school year with minimal disruption," the staff member said. The district plans to begin Phase One in the summer of 2027, noting those plans were submitted to New York State for approval as soon as the vote was completed.
The district described Phase One as including the expedited items from proposition one and scheduled for summer 2027. Phase Two will include the athletic field work from both propositions and is planned for spring and summer 2028; staff warned that spring 2028 lacrosse and track seasons will need to take place at away matches because the fields will be under construction.
Phase Three will address interior steam and instructional spaces across all three schools and BRS security and play-space work in the summer of 2028. The staff member said SED approval, architectural design work, purchasing, and the need to perform most work while school is not in session shaped the schedule.
District officials said they refreshed the returning members of the community facilities committee after the vote and will send out a community request form this week to recruit new volunteers and form subcommittees. "That will enable us to collect names, select volunteers based on breadth of experience, and begin subcommittee work when everyone returns from summer vacation," the staff member said. The district added that communication about the project and CFC work will continue throughout the timeline.
Next steps: the staff member indicated the district will proceed with SED processes and architectural design and will solicit community volunteers; specific dates for approvals and contracts were not specified.
