Peggy Golfin, chair of the Commission on Aging, said Director Shoshana Merced plans to meet with the Finance Department the following day to discuss the senior center budget. The commission approved submitting the letter to the Town Manager and the Board of Selectmen after that meeting, and also approved an amendment allowing submission even if Merced is unable to meet with Finance.
Commissioner Dianne Greco moved to approve the document and submit it to the Town Manager and Board of Selectmen following Merceds meeting with the Finance Department; Golfin seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Greco then proposed an amendment authorizing the commission to submit the letter if Merced could not meet with Finance as planned; Barbara Armfield seconded and the amendment also passed unanimously.
The letter requests that funds collected for senior center programs and donations be returned to the senior center budget, be accessible during the current fiscal year, and that any remaining balances at fiscal year-end carry forward to the next year without a cap. The commission did not specify dollar amounts or specific program accounts in the minutes.
The special meeting was called to order at 3:04 PM and adjourned at 3:47 PM. The commission recorded members present as Donna Kane, Donna Mosher, Dianne Greco and Barbara Armfield (Armfield noted as arriving at 3:31 PM).
