Chair Barbara Lazzari called the special meeting of the Town of Marlborough Parks and Recreation Commission to order at 5:37 p.m. and led a vote to add an agenda item to thank volunteers who recently cleaned Blish Park.
The commission voted unanimously to add item 5.3, a letter to the Rivereast recognizing volunteer work. Chair Barbara Lazzari made the motion and Commissioner Louise Concodello seconded; all members present voted in favor. The motion gives the commission authority to draft and send the letter to the local paper.
Commissioners discussed adding a non-resident parking rule to the Town of Marlborough Rules and Regulations that would apply to all town parks and athletic fields. The commission also agreed there is a need to install signage at Blish Park to indicate the new parking rule locally. Chair Lazzari told the group the recommendation on non-resident parking had been approved by the Board of Selectmen, signaling the Selectmen's support for implementing the rule at town parks.
During public comment, resident Bonnie Soulsby of Edstrom Road said she is interested in organizing a drumming circle program and asked whether it could be held at a town park; Chair Lazzari directed Soulsby to speak with the Parks and Recreation Director for details and permitting.
The meeting record shows the commission approved routine business: Commissioner Louise Concodello moved to accept the March 9, 2026 minutes with a correction changing the Easter Egg Hunt start time from "10 AM" to "11 AM," Commissioner Kim Irizarry seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Kim Irizarry later moved to adjourn at 6:15 p.m.; Commissioner Dave LeJeune seconded and the motion passed.
Next steps include drafting the letter to the Rivereast and coordinating signage and enforcement details for the non-resident parking rule with town staff and the Parks and Recreation Director.
