Marlborough authorizes intermunicipal agreements with East Haddam and Woodbridge

The Marlborough Board of Selectmen authorized two intermunicipal agreements at its April 7 meeting. The first authorizes Town Manager David Porter to execute an agreement with East Haddam to share an animal control vehicle, using language modeled on an existing Columbia–East Haddam arrangement. The second authorizes Porter to execute an agreement with Woodbridge to share a Finance Director; Porter said the town may pursue an RPIP grant that could fund 50% of the position’s cost for three years, and that Schedule B of the agreement still needs to be populated.
Board members asked questions about document typographical errors and outstanding schedule details for the Woodbridge agreement. Ms. McFarland moved to authorize Porter to execute the East Haddam vehicle-share agreement; Mr. Bratz seconded and the motion carried. Ms. McFarland moved to authorize Porter to execute the Woodbridge finance director agreement; Ms. Concodello seconded and the motion carried.
What happens next: the Town Manager will finalize the agreements and complete required schedules; if the RPIP grant is pursued and awarded, it would offset a portion of the shared Finance Director cost for a limited period.
