Franklin County adopts workplace policies and adds parcels to agricultural district
Summary
The Legislature adopted four county workplace policies (cancer screening leave, telephone usage, drug-free workplace, workplace violence prevention) and unanimously approved the addition of multiple parcels across several towns into the Franklin County Agricultural District.
At its Sept. 1 and Sept. 15 meetings, the Franklin County Legislature adopted several county personnel and workplace policies and approved additions to the county agricultural district.
Administrative Committee presented and the Legislature adopted a Cancer Screening Leave Policy (effective Jan. 1, 2017) granting regularly scheduled employees up to eight hours annually for cancer screenings, including breast and prostate screening and other cancers. The Legislature also adopted an updated Telephone System Usage Policy, a revised Drug‑Free Workplace Policy and an updated Workplace Violence Prevention Policy.
Economic Development & Planning Committee presented additions to the Franklin County Agricultural District during the 30‑day opt‑in period, and the Legislature adopted inclusion of parcels across multiple towns — including Bangor, Bellmont, Bombay, Burke, Chateaugay, Constable, Dickinson, Duane, Fort Covington, Malone, Moira and Westville — with the resolution listing parcel identifiers and total acres for each town.
All policy adoptions and the agricultural district additions were adopted unanimously. The Legislature directed appropriate budget and administrative steps where required.
