Franklin County accepts DHS and FEMA preparedness grants worth $94,328

Franklin County officials authorized acceptance of two homeland-security and emergency-management grants.
At the June 16 meeting the Emergency Preparedness Director/Fire Coordinator advised the Public Safety Committee of a $70,000 award from the New York State Division of Homeland Security (DHSES) for the 2016 SHSP/SLETPP program (DHSES Number SH16-1052-D00). Resolution No. 159 authorized acceptance of the 100% funded grant and made appropriations to contractual expenses and equipment lines.
The Legislature also adopted Resolution No. 160 to accept a FY2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) from FEMA for $24,328, with appropriations made to personal services to support emergency management staffing. Both resolutions were adopted unanimously following committee recommendation; motions were made by Legislator Dabiew and seconded by Legislator Maroun.
County staff were authorized to expend funds according to the budget amendments and to complete any required grant documentation.
