The Franklin County Legislature approved actions authorizing the sale and transfer of multiple county-owned properties taken through in-rem tax proceedings.
At its June 2 meeting the Legislature adopted Resolution No. 148 accepting a Special Committee report on reversion of unredeemed lands and authorizing the Chairman and Secretary to deliver quitclaim deeds after receipt of specified sale amounts for listed parcels in the towns of Bangor and Franklin. The motion was made by Legislator Maroun and seconded by Legislator Smith and passed unanimously.
On June 16 the body adopted Resolution No. 161 to approve Schedule A reflecting properties sold at a public auction on May 25, 2016; upon receipt of the full sales price the Chairman and the Clerk are authorized to issue quitclaim deeds and the county seal will be affixed. The motion was made by Legislator Rice, seconded by Legislator Smith, and adopted unanimously.
The resolutions direct that sale proceeds be applied to accumulated taxes and authorize the County Treasurer to cancel remaining unpaid taxes as specified in the reports. Specific purchasers and amounts were listed in the Special Committee reports and auction Schedule A attached to the resolutions.
