Wymore staff told ARPA funds cannot be used as local match for CDBG water project

During the Sept. 18 meeting the council discussed the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) water project. Tom Bliss told the council that American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds cannot be used to meet the required local matching funds for the CDBG project.
City staff (Tim and Janet) have a follow-up call scheduled with Tom Bliss on Sept. 19 to discuss the project and next steps. As of the meeting date the contract from NDEE had not been received; Mayor Collin Meints said he had received an electronic document related to the release of funds but the formal contract paperwork remained outstanding.
What happens next: Staff will pursue options for required matching funds and report back after the Sept. 19 call with the project contact.
