Council authorizes mayor to sign downtown revitalization grant; Hope-Wymore official updates council on facility closing

The Wymore City Council on Sept. 18 voted to authorize Mayor Collin Meints to sign the Downtown Revitalization grant document after review by City Attorney Andy Carothers. The motion, made by Max Allen and seconded by Curt Oblinger, carried 4-0.
Representing Hope-Wymore, a speaker identified as Dave updated the council on the closing of a facility; no council action on the closing was requested that night. Resident Lori Novotny said she would like the facility or property to be used as an assisted-living facility.
Attorney Carothers said additional sections are being added to Ordinance No. 679 and that he will circulate an update to council members before the next meeting. The council also approved a motion to close 7th and F streets on Sept. 25 for a pep rally; the street-closure motion carried 4-0.
What happens next: Attorney Carothers will review the downtown grant documents before the mayor signs; ordinance revisions will be circulated to councilmembers for review prior to formal action.
