Council staff work contracts for two dilapidated houses; owner to pay for one demolition

City Attorney Andy Carothers told the Wymore City Council on Oct. 2 that Utility Superintendent Tim Sedlacek had secured an updated quote from Tiemann for demolition of the building at 207 S 7th St that falls within the proposed budget, and that Carothers was drafting an updated contract.
Carothers also said he was preparing a contract with Fossler for demolition of the house at 518 N 11th and that the property owner would pay that demolition cost. City Clerk Janet Riensche was asked to check whether the owner had paid a related mowing bill.
No formal demolition motions or authorizations were recorded in the minutes beyond the attorney’s report and the instruction to prepare contracts; council members did not adopt an ordinance or vote to order demolition during the meeting. Next steps include finalizing contracts and confirming payment or lien responsibilities for the 518 N 11th property.
