Wymore — City Attorney Andy Carothers updated the Wymore City Council Oct. 16 on two dilapidated-property actions: a finished contract with the owner of 518 N. 11th and ongoing work on a preliminary draft for the Gambles Building, which carries a Nov. 1 deadline.
Carothers said the city has lined up Bockman for inspection and mediation and that Black Hills Energy plans to remove a gas line "by next week." He said the city will disconnect electricity once a demolition date is set. When asked about property contents, Carothers said removing salvageable items can reduce landfill costs but that the city will address material left on adjacent property if it becomes a nuisance.
The council did not set a demolition date in the meeting; Carothers will continue the Gambles Building draft with Tiemann and follow up on inspection and remediation steps. The council directed staff to proceed with the actions described and to return updates at subsequent meetings.
