A transportation presenter told the board June 17 that the district recently hosted a CDL training course at its new facility with four attendees and that in-class and behind-the-wheel bus training took place.
The presenter said the department is currently staffed with 90 drivers and eight monitors and has sent recommendations to human resources to add additional full-time drivers; "I've sent in I think a total of six new recommendations for hire within the past couple of days," the presenter said. The department is developing turn-by-turn routes and allowed drivers to choose coverage areas while final routes are prepared.
The presenter also noted employee recognition: 44 drivers had perfect attendance for the last month of school and several drivers were recognized for year-long perfect attendance compared with previous years.
