The committee approved a 3‑year waiver for Thrive Bayou Region to use Thibodaux Middle School for an inaugural youth summit, with the requester responsible for a $300 damage deposit and custodian fees; risk management confirmed insurance coverage. Roxanne Reed, who identified herself as a retired Lafourche educator and a member of Thrive, described a July K–12 event and a July 31 summit for college-bound juniors and seniors and asked that the committee waive facility fees for three years. The motion was moved by Mrs. Bourgeois, seconded by Mrs. Babin, and the committee approved the request by voice vote.
Committee members also approved multiple construction-related change orders and procurement awards. Staff recommended and the committee approved a $21,304.40 change order for additional chilled-water piping insulation at North Laurel Elementary and a $11,039.66 net change for Thibodaux Learning Center renovations, both presented by project managers. The committee accepted the lowest bidder and selected alternates for the Tupelo High sanitary piping renovation project (total project cost presented as $305,160).
In a larger construction decision, the committee approved a $108,574.18 change order and 93 added days for the Lafourche Parish stadium repair program to cover contractor remobilization costs after a pause designed to preserve home‑game access during football season. Project staff explained the remobilization cost stems from stopping and restarting crews across multiple sites.
On Hurricane Ida recovery, presenters said some FEMA-submitted projects were returned for plan adjustments; one project will require a resubmission after removing an added staff shower and adjusting locker-room layouts, a process staff estimated could take six to eight months before bidding. Project teams also reported asbestos found in existing mansard panels at Central Lafourche High School, meaning panels likely must be removed rather than overclad.
Lead accountant Shasta reported bond-construction balances across three bonds (2017, 2021 and 2025) and said committed project amounts are posted in the meeting attachments.
The meeting closed after approving a second three-year waiver for Camp Lula to use the Thibodaux High School football stadium; the requestor will cover the deposit and custodian fees and had confirmed insurance coverage with risk management. The committee adjourned with no further business.
