Rolesville updates Farm Park design, soccer-field grant and senior programming

Rolesville officials are developing plans for a new Farm Park and related amenities while continuing established senior and community programs, Director of Parks and Recreation June Green said on the Mayor's Show.

"We are now working with the team ADW to help us to design the park and put all the amenities that we are wanting to see and get everything together for us to see what will we be able to afford with the money that we have already," Green said. He added the town has received a Wake County Tourism grant that will support the inclusion of soccer fields in the Farm Park plan and that staff are considering an indoor event center to host basketball and other activities.

Green emphasized the project is in a design-and-budgeting stage: the town is combining available funding and design artwork to determine which elements can be included. He did not provide construction start dates, firm cost estimates or a full funding breakdown on the broadcast.

Separately, Green described continuing senior services: the 'Senior Center without Walls' meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and offers mahjong, chair aerobics, balance training, health and financial-wellness seminars and arts and crafts. He said participation is strong in several programs and noted coordination with local partners such as the Senior Network and volunteer leaders (he named coach Val).

Green also said the Golden Age Expo is being planned for August and indicated it will again be held at Roswell Baptist Church on a third‑Wednesday schedule; planning was described as in early stages.

The mayor thanked Green and staff for the update; no vote or formal town decision was announced during the show.
