A Life Scout from Bryingsville told the Upper Macungie Parks and Recreation Committee he plans to scope an Eagle Scout project that would be incorporated into the Hassan Creek Trail Improvement Project.
The scout, who identified his last name as Yanala and said he is a Life Scout with Troop 72, said he will visit the trail to determine a feasible scope and return to the board with a proposal. Committee members asked him to provide a written description so the board can circulate and review it before granting approval.
"We're looking to work together and come up with some good improvements going forward," the committee chair said, asking the scout to send a description of the planned work and noting staff contacts would be shared to support planning. The scout confirmed a deadline: "October 17th is when I need to get" the project completed.
Board members suggested potential project components — improving signs, adding access to the waterfall, or other trail improvements — and said they would evaluate the scout's proposal when submitted. The committee did not take a formal vote at the meeting; members described the next step as the scout returning with a scoped plan for approval.
The committee encouraged the scout to coordinate with staff and said they would help identify needed permits or materials once the scope is provided. The project will proceed through the standard staff review and board-approval process for work on township trails.
