North Haledon awards $1.02 million road contract for Overlook Avenue; council certifies funds

The North Haledon Borough Council on Aug. 31, 2021, awarded the Overlook Avenue and 2021 Road Improvement Project to New Prince Construction, the low bidder at $1,019,200.65. The borough received four bids; the next lowest totals were $1,021,041.51 (D&L Paving Contractors) and $1,199,365.44 (Smith Sondy Asphalt Construction Co.).
The Borough Engineer recommended award to New Prince Construction in a letter dated Aug. 25, 2021, and the Borough Attorney found the low bid legally sufficient (letter dated Aug. 27, 2021). The resolution authorizes the mayor and borough clerk to execute a contract contingent on receipt of a performance bond.
Chief Financial Officer Christopher Battaglia certified that sufficient uncommitted funds were available in the listed accounts and certified encumbrances for the project (accounts C-04-21-002-300 and C-04-21-002-200 with amounts not-to-exceed $645,050.00 and $374,150.65, respectively). The council approved the award by unanimous roll call.
Work authorization and contract execution are subject to the contractor providing a performance bond and final contract processing by the borough.
