Council approves amendment clarifying return-of-vehicle language in Collin County law-enforcement agreement

On June 18 the Lucas City Council approved Amendment No. 2 to a Collin County Commissioners Court order that clarifies language about the return of vehicles and equipment at the end of a law-enforcement contract.
Resident and council speaker comments noted the amendment is narrowly focused. Councilmember John Witsel (public commenter earlier) and the city attorney confirmed the change relates only to vehicles and specified equipment. "It just relates to the vehicles," City Attorney Joe Gorfida said in response to council questions, and council voted to approve the amendment by voice vote.
Council described the amendment as narrowly tailored to clean up contract language so the city and county understand what equipment returns to which entity at contract termination. The approval passed unanimously.
