The Lucas City Council on June 18 approved the preliminary plat for Strathmont Park, a proposed 9.461-acre subdivision on West Forest Grove Road that would create eight single-family lots.
Planning staff told the council the plat meets the city's requirements: the water main will be looped, the subdivision will feature split entrances, and drainage was straightforward because the site has no floodplain. "The proposed preliminary plat for Strathmore Park meets the city's requirements for approval," Phil Hilborn said. Staff noted the existing on-site stock pond was not designed as stormwater detention and that required detention will be provided in the plat design.
Council members reviewed geotechnical materials and discussed pond backfill and detention; staff said the pond had been a nursery stock pond and was insignificant for detention purposes. Councilmember Debbie Fisher moved to approve the preliminary plat; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The council directed staff to complete standard plat-recording steps and any follow-up engineering approvals.
