The mayor said the city's budget is tracking ahead of plan through the first five months of the year, reporting that “with approximately 42% of the budget year completed, revenues are not quite 56%, expenditures a little shy of 30%.”
Council members were invited to ask questions; Council member Cornell Wilson asked whether that gap reflects delayed large expenditures later in the year or simply conservative spending. The mayor replied it was “a combination,” citing upcoming larger bills such as pensions and offering to review line items before the Monday council meeting.
No formal action was taken during the pre-council review. Council members were reminded to review the detailed budget materials over the weekend so any follow-up questions could be addressed at the June 22 council meeting.
