Town meeting funding clears way for West Dennis bathhouse design, committee told

The Dennis Beach Committee was told on June 11 that town meeting has approved funding to advance the West Dennis bathhouse to the design phase and to hire an owner’s project manager. "The money was approved to, proceed, with design and OPM," Dustin said, adding that the contracts are signed and the initial project meeting will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m.
The committee heard that the design and OPM contract signatures allow the project team to move to the next step of producing design documents and cost estimates. Dustin said the town has assigned an assistant administrator to attend the project meetings going forward and that the committee should expect a first update at the next Beach Committee meeting.
Committee members asked logistical questions about timing and public outreach; staff said the design phase will produce more precise cost estimates and that permitting and next steps will follow once the design is complete. No formal vote by the committee was required at the meeting; the report was presented as an informational update following town meeting action.
The committee agreed to track project updates at subsequent meetings and to circulate minutes from the initial June 17 project meeting. The committee’s next regularly scheduled meeting date was noted as the second Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m.
