The Board of School Trustees of the Tri-Township Consolidated School Corporation approved a package of routine consent and action items during its Oct. 28 meeting in Wanatah.
Board members voted to adopt the minutes from the Sept. 23 meeting, approve financial reports, claims and payroll, and accept the personnel report. Aaron Rust made several motions recorded in the consent agenda and Chad Howell, Nick Poort and Melanie Mills provided seconds on various items; the minutes note the motions passed with "all ayes." The personnel report recorded no certified leaves or certified hires; it listed classified changes including the resignation of kitchen staff member Jillian Wise, effective Oct. 7, 2024, and the hire of substitute kitchen staff Katelynd Woodard effective Oct. 14, 2024; Melissa Ribar was listed as a substitute kitchen hire pending a background check. The board also recorded an adjustment moving Jill Jamrozy from a full-time route driver to an extracurricular/athletic/field-trip driver role effective Oct. 11, 2024.
On formal action items the board approved a joint resolution with John Glenn School Corporation to sell a bus (motion by Aaron Rust; second by Nick Poort), adopted the TTCSC Wellness Policy (motion by Melanie Mills; second by Chad Howell), and adopted K–12 Consequence Guidelines for Threats of Violence (motion by Melanie Mills; second by Aaron Rust). All motions were recorded as passing with "all ayes." The minutes do not specify individual vote tallies beyond that record.
The board accepted several donations and grants to support student services and programming. The accepted gifts included: - $500 from the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation for student snacks; - a donated food pantry known as the "Paw Pantry" from Modern Woodmen to be sited on the grass next to the main entrance parking lot; - $500 from The Pad Project to purchase sanitary supplies for students; and - multiple donations to support the district's robotics program from several local donors totaling the amounts recorded in the minutes. The robotics donors and amounts listed in the minutes were Mills ($150), Horizon Bank ($250), Urschel Labs ($4,000), Laporte Federal Credit Union ($260), Kaiser's Farm ($500), Family Express ($200), Wings Aviation ($500) and Dewey's Auto ($500). All donations were approved by board motion and listed as "all ayes."
The board adjourned following routine board comments; the next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 25, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
