ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. ' The Arlington Heights School District 25 Board of Education voted 7-0 on June 16 to approve the district's e-learning plan for the 2026 through 2029 review cycle, a reaffirmation of the approach the district has used in prior years.
Superintendent Dr. Fitzpatrick told the board the plan is "pretty much the same version of the plan that we've had for the last three years," noting the district surveyed staff and families and received feedback that "generally supports the plan in its current form." He reiterated that the district retains discretion to call an e-learning day or designate a traditional snow day and that staff would provide students with necessary materials if an e-learning day is anticipated.
Board members discussed limitations of short-term e-learning (for example, younger students who need adult support) but said the plan is designed for brief continuity of learning in emergency situations, not as a replacement for in-person instruction.
What the plan requires: The district will verify the plan annually and perform a full review every three years, per Illinois school code; staff will publish the plan and related survey results on the district website. The board approved the motion by roll call vote 7-0.
Next steps: Teaching and Learning staff will publish the materials and continue to collect feedback for future iterations of the plan.
