Residents raise semi‑traffic concerns and parade parking as Lions Club readies fireworks

During public comment on July 16, resident Barb Morgan (117 N. Half Street) told the council she had called Town Hall multiple times about semi traffic using Washington and Half Street and thanked staff for help in slowing that traffic.
Rebecca Durovey of Our Town Upland said the 5K route for Labor Day was changed because of construction and asked whether the police department approved the new route; Marshal Andy Cassidy replied that the route will be acceptable.
Alex Reno, representing the Parks Department and the Upland Lions Club, said the Lions Club has received enough donations to proceed with the annual fireworks display. Reno also said a Disc Golf tournament called "Tour de Upland" will be held on Labor Day weekend and asked what could be done about parade parking. Town Manager Jonathan Perez asked the council for a recommendation to restrict parking on Washington Street during the parade and suggested a possible amendment to the town’s parking ordinance.
No formal action to change parking rules was recorded at the meeting; Perez asked for a recommendation and further discussion could take place at a future meeting.
