Town Manager Jonathan Perez told the Upland Town Council on July 16 that the legal notice for the Community Crossings Project request for proposals will be published July 20 and July 27, and that bids will be opened at the council’s next meeting on Aug. 6.
Perez said the timeline for SR 22 has changed and that staff will provide a more detailed update at the next meeting. He also reported that Our Town Upland has obtained nonprofit status and that Commonwealth Engineers submitted its monthly report.
A separate Town Manager document presented at the meeting set phased dates for the Main Street project. The document lists Phase 1 (south end to Payne Road) from April 1 to Sept. 14, 2024 (subject to change per INDOT) and additional phases with windows through Nov. 22, 2024. The manager cautioned that some dates have conflicting updates and that staff will provide definitive timing when available.
Bids on the Community Crossings Project are scheduled to be opened at the Aug. 6 meeting. Councilmembers asked clarifying questions about whether the 5th Street work is part of the CCMG project and about a proposed walkway between 5th and 6th streets; Perez said the 5th Street work is not part of the CCMG project and that the walkway is still under discussion.
