The Madison Local School Board recognized the retirement of longtime teacher Kathy Jansen and approved two administrative hires for the district's new primary structure: Jessica Shaner as primary school principal and Reagan Poor as assistant principal. The board said both candidates are Madison graduates with prior administrative experience and that the interview committee reached consensus on the selections.
Following an executive session, the board moved to approve the termination of employment for Addie Ratabal; the motion was moved, seconded and approved in board vote.
The board also considered an amended resolution concerning the sale of the old junior high property. The amendment (option three in the packet) struck the first two bullets referencing a purchase price and revised terms; the superintendent and treasurer were authorized, with legal counsel advice, to prepare and transmit a written counteroffer reflecting negotiated terms. The motion to adopt the amended resolution carried on a board vote.
Board members thanked outgoing staff, welcomed the newly hired administrators and directed the superintendent and treasurer to work with legal counsel on the property counteroffer language and execution steps.
