District completes classroom moves for consolidation; board says wheelchair lifts will be installed

Facilities staff reported that the move of classrooms for Mifflin, East View and South is complete, with 56 moves finished and temporary storage in place while the district finalizes next steps.
The facilities update outlined ongoing work to stage loose items, return the rental truck and implement lighting upgrades (LEDs and motion-activated restroom switches) during summer and into fall. Staff said the middle school already has occupancy sensors and the high school and elementary buildings will be upgraded.
Superintendent's remarks after the facilities report named staff involved in the move and described it as successful: "they really did a lot of the logistical work of planning for that and put us in a very good spot well in advance of the end of the school year to pull that off." He also updated the board that, in preparation for students with mobility needs following the consolidation from three elementary schools to two, the district has contracted for lifts; Mr. McVicker, Mr. Roth and facilities staff have worked with a vendor on plans and installations were said to be scheduled soon so students who use wheelchairs will have access to regular classrooms with their peers.
Board members acknowledged the work and thanked staff for completing a large, physical move with a small crew.
