Council delays decision on Memorial Drive paving bids to allow public comment

JEO Consulting Group Project Manager Ryan Kavan told the Broken Bow City Council that the city received two bids for the 2022 Memorial Drive Paving and Storm Sewer Improvements Project. Beaumont Enterprises submitted a bid of $1,057,887.00 for Group A (Memorial Drive) and $88,896.00 for Group B (traffic signal), totaling $1,146,783.00 with a proposed start date of Aug. 15, 2022. Myers Construction’s bid was $1,009,772.05 for Group A and $79,139.85 for Group B, totaling $1,088,911.90 with a proposed start date of July 1, 2022.
After JEO recommended awarding both groups to Myers Construction, Councilmember Larry Miller moved and Councilmember David Schmidt seconded a motion to postpone the award until the next Council meeting to allow additional public comment. The roll-call vote recorded Miller, Schmidt and Baltz voting in favor; the motion carried. No final award or contractor was selected at the meeting.
