Broken Bow council approves appointment, sale of 1978 ladder fire truck and routine bill payments

The Broken Bow City Council approved a set of routine administrative items at its Nov. 23, 2021 meeting, including an appointment to the Community Redevelopment Authority, authorization to sell a 1978 ladder fire truck and authorization to pay bills that would have been addressed at a canceled Dec. 28 meeting.
The council voted unanimously to appoint Russ Simmons to the Community Redevelopment Authority Board for a term ending February 2025 after a motion by Councilmember Jacob Holcomb and a second from Councilmember Larry Miller.
Councilmember David Schmidt moved, with a second from Councilmember Larry Miller, to approve Resolution 2021-23 authorizing the sale of the 1978 Ford Smeal 75-foot ladder truck (VIN D80DVAG7297). The council amended the resolution’s wording to specify "the estimated value of more than $5,000.00." The motion passed on a roll-call vote with Schmidt, Miller and Holcomb voting aye.
The council also approved cancelling the second meeting scheduled for Dec. 28, 2021 (motion by Holcomb, second by Schmidt) and passed Resolution 2021-24 authorizing payment of the regular bills that would have been paid at the Dec. 28 meeting (motion by Miller, second by Holcomb). The consent agenda — approved earlier in the meeting — included approval of the Nov. 9 minutes, bills as posted and the October Treasurer's Report; the minutes list a vendor/disbursement total of $119,109.36 and bi-weekly payroll of $52,795.85.
All recorded motions carried with roll-call votes recorded as aye from Councilmembers Jacob Holcomb, David Schmidt and Larry Miller. Mayor Rod Sonnichsen opened and closed the meeting; the record shows the meeting adjourned at 6:24 p.m. City Clerk Kandi K. Peters attested the minutes.
