Broken Bow council approves consent agenda, two resolutions and accepts Rotary flag donation

On Oct. 12 the Broken Bow City Council approved the consent agenda including bills totaling $349,987.69, accepted a Rotary donation of two large American flags for the public library, approved Resolutions 2021-17 and 2021-18, and held two closed-session strategy meetings on collective bargaining.
The Broken Bow City Council met Oct. 12 and approved the consent agenda, which included the Sept. 28 meeting minutes and bills as posted; the total for listed bills, two payroll entries and other items in the minutes was $349,987.69.
Rotary members Deb McCaslin and Michelle Nelson presented two 10-by-15-foot American flags to Mayor Rod Sonnichsen to be flown at the Broken Bow Public Library. McCaslin said the flags were purchased with help from the Give4CusterCounty program and donations and gave special thanks to Mayor Sonnichsen and his wife, Deb Sonnichsen, for a personal contribution.
The Council approved Resolution 2021-17 to use KENO funds in the amount of $729.09 to pay for flags and yard signs for One Box Park (motion by Jacob Holcomb, seconded by Larry Miller). The Council also approved Resolution 2021-18 authorizing the sale of real property described as College Estates Block 1 Lot 2 in Broken Bow, valued at over $5,000 (motion by David Schmidt, seconded by Jacob Holcomb). Roll-call votes for both resolutions were recorded as Holcomb, Schmidt and Miller voting aye; no nays were recorded.
The Council entered closed session at 6:26 p.m. for a strategy session on collective bargaining that included the Mayor, City Council and City Attorney Jason White. The Council exited that closed session at 7:19 p.m., immediately re-entered closed session at 7:20 p.m. to continue collective-bargaining strategy with City Administrator Dan Knoell also present, exited the second closed session at 8:30 p.m., and adjourned the meeting at 8:31 p.m.
