Broken Bow Police buy school‑zone signs with Custer County Foundation grant

Sergeant Shane Fiorelli of the Broken Bow Police Department briefed the council on an initiative to increase public safety in school zones by installing additional speed limit and pediatric crosswalk signs around Broken Bow Public Schools.
Fiorelli said the department ordered the signs with grant assistance from the Custer County Foundation. The total cost for the signs and related materials was $2,587; the foundation contributed $1,500 toward the purchase. The additional signage is intended to improve driver awareness in designated school zones where, Fiorelli said, only two signs had previously marked school zones.
Council received the briefing as part of the meeting's presentations; no formal ordinance or funding vote was recorded for the purchase at the Jan. 11 session.
