Superintendent Niemeyer told the committee the FY27 amendments reflect adjustments tied to the town's 4% budget action and that the district will use approximately $52,500 from fund balance to supplement the budget to hire a technology director. "I believe the number was 52,500," he said during the discussion.
The FY26 amendments were described as routine close‑out adjustments to move funds into the correct line items as the fiscal year ends. Committee members indicated they expect at least one more round of small amendments in July as the district finalizes year‑end reconciliations.
Committee members did not express opposition and approved both sets of amendments by voice vote.
Superintendent Niemeyer also updated the committee on audit and finance items: the district completed its audit with the state auditor general and reported a small fund balance returned to the account, strengthening financial stability. He said Chartwells continues as the state food service contractor and the district is negotiating the local contract and possible modest meal price increases for next year.
The committee did not change tax or town‑level decisions; the amendments passed are adjustments to the district's internal budgets to reflect the council's prior actions and anticipated hires.
