Resident thanks police after July incident; deputy mayor flags sidewalk etching and praises swim program

At the Aug. 4 meeting, resident George Demas described vehicle trouble on July 7 that left him stranded overnight; he told the board he was dehydrated, said he is now well, and thanked Mayor Paul Labas and Police Chief Ernie Bassett Jr. for the response by the Granville Police Department and Rescue Squad.
Deputy Mayor Dean Hyatt later raised two neighborhood items: he said that after a DPW sidewalk replacement an individual had etched the phrase "Drink Craft Beer" into fresh concrete and that he was disappointed and hoped it could be remedied. Hyatt also commended the summer swim program coordinator for expanding enrollment from about 27–28 last year to 45 this summer.
These remarks occurred during the public-comment portion and Mayor's reports; no formal board action on the sidewalk etching or program funding was recorded at the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
