Granville to accept 4.2-acre parcel from Byzantine Catholic Church to protect well field

Labas, who said he has worked on the matter for several years, told the Board the parcel’s acquisition would provide an additional buffer around vital infrastructure and is already tax-exempt. The Board discussed the public-benefit aspects and unanimously passed a resolution to accept the parcel on a roll-call vote.
Deputy Mayor Dean Hyatt moved the resolution and Trustee Denise Davies seconded. The Board did not set conditions in the meeting record for future use or conveyance; any such restrictions would appear in the formal deed or subsequent Board action.
The Board took the vote during its July 7, 2025 meeting at the Village Municipal Center. The acquisition adds municipal control adjacent to Mettowee Park and the village’s well field, which officials said is a planning priority for infrastructure protection.
