Granville readies tree lighting and tractor parade; Main Street plan available for review

Clerk‑Treasurer Rick Roberts thanked volunteers, DPW personnel and business owners for refurbishing and installing decorations in Veterans Park and along Main Street; he said installations were roughly 90% complete and that nightly, music‑timed light shows would be available on 89.3 FM through Jan. 20. The Clerk also thanked knitters and vendors who donated hats, mittens, blankets and refreshments and acknowledged the Chamber of Commerce for co‑sponsoring the event and sponsoring horse and wagon rides.
Mayor Paul Labas said the Final Plan for the Main Street Technical Assistance Grant — an approximately 110‑page document including appendices — has been received and is available for public review through the Office of the Village Clerk. He said the plan is intended to support future applications to NY Forward and Downtown Revitalization programs and to target vacant Main Street buildings for redevelopment.
On the Lighted Tractor Parade the Mayor reported 32 paid entries and estimated an audience of 7,500–8,000 patrons. The Mayor presented framed service awards recognizing Deputy Mayor Gordon Smith Jr. for 25 years of service and Police Chief Ernie Bassett Jr. for 35 years.
