The Village Board on Dec. 2 authorized a set of administrative actions related to fire protection and road maintenance.
Following past practice, the Board authorized Mayor Paul Labas to execute the contract that allows Granville Engine & Hose Company #1 to provide fire protection to the South Granville Fire District; the contract originates with the Town and is reviewed by the Fire Chief before arriving for the Mayor’s signature. Trustee Dean Hyatt moved the authorization, Trustee Heather Leaman seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The Board also ratified Nathan Williams as a new member of Granville Engine & Hose Company #1; the ratification was moved by Trustee Dean Hyatt and seconded by Trustee Heather Leaman with unanimous approval.
Finally, the Board authorized DPW Superintendent Scott Mackey to execute Washington County’s annual road‑maintenance and snow‑removal documentation (reimbursement provided to the Village when snow removal exceeds 6 inches for a single storm on NYS Route 149 and adjacent areas). Deputy Mayor Gordon Smith Jr. moved that authorization and the motion passed unanimously.
The motions follow the Village’s longstanding administrative process for these agreements; the transcript records no substantive changes to contract terms beyond a noted increase in contract amount anticipated for 2025 and routine editorial updates.
