During the Nov. 4 public comment period Mrs. Robin Anderson, Faith Coordinator at St. Mary’s Church, asked the Granville Village Board to support an effort to re-establish a youth program for students in grades 6–12 that she described as non‑denominational and open to all.
Anderson said the program previously run under Rev. Zelker was popular and would include life‑skills components such as money management, time management, healthy eating, community involvement, character development, supervised games and social time. She said volunteers would be vetted and required to pass background checks and that the church has secured some grant funds to support the effort. Anderson also pointed meeting attendees to a program example on YouTube titled "A Trail Map for Life."
Trustee Dean Hyatt praised the appearance of veterans banners and suggested creating a small volunteer group to clean and store banners after the season; Mayor Paul Labas said that banner care could be a good project for the proposed youth group, and Anderson agreed. The board did not take formal action on the request at the Nov. 4 meeting.
