Neighbors urge action on Gold Star Bridal, citing pollution and lack of occupancy permit

Residents and civic‑club leaders brought detailed complaints about a local bridal/industrial facility they say is polluting neighborhoods north of 610 and east of I‑45.

The claim: Carolyn Rivera said neighbors have repeatedly complained to 311 and to county and federal agencies about unsanitary conditions and possible waste disposal from Gold Star Bridal at 7944 Dawko Road. "Who know what kind of poison they are ditch drainage and into resident's yards?" Rivera asked the council, and she urged prompt, transparent investigation so the community can be part of any enforcement action.

Health concerns and council response: Another speaker, Mackenzie Tate, said her family and neighbors have experienced asthma, COPD and other health problems, and that she had been hospitalized. Council members responded that inspections had been conducted and would continue; Council member Jackson noted that the establishment's certificate of occupancy appears to be out of date and that legal and fire authorities may have a role in enforcement. The administration told the chamber that inspectors will return and that additional citations could follow if compliance is not met.
