Planning commission recommends rezoning 8.55 acres on Virtue Road to R1

The Farragut Municipal Planning Commission on June 18 voted to recommend approval of Resolution PC-26-07, which supports Ordinance 26-13 to rezone a portion of the property at 817 Virtue Road (8.55 acres) from S1 Community Service and Agricultural A to R1 Rural Single-Family Residential.
Mark Shipley of town staff told the commission the parcel is currently split across three zoning districts and that rezoning the entire parcel to R1 would align the property with the future land-use map and permit a proposed resubdivision. He noted the north portion is zoned S1, the east side is agricultural and portions south are already R1.
Benny Mormon of Benchmark Associates, the applicant representative, said staff and the town’s consultant coordinating the Virtue Road improvement project had met to coordinate right-of-way and trail impacts and that the applicant supports working with the town as subdivision plats are finalized. No citizens signed up to speak on the item. The commission moved and voted to recommend the ordinance to the board of mayor and aldermen; the recommendation passed unanimously.
Next steps: the recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for consideration of Ordinance 26-13.
