Board approves tenure appointments and honors retirees; new staff publicly welcomed

The MARION CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Board of Education confirmed tenure appointments for multiple district staff members and used part of its program tonight to recognize long-serving employees and retirees.
Principal Shane Dean presented tenure recommendations for several Marion Junior–Senior High School staff members, including Tarsa Gonzalez, Brandy Jones and Kelly Williamson. Each recommendation included biographical background and classroom contributions; trustees moved, seconded, and approved the appointments by voice vote.
Elementary Principal Nila Hair presented two elementary tenure candidates, Claire Brownell and Allison Maloney. The board motioned and approved both tenure appointments in the meeting.
The board also held a years-of-service recognition to honor employees with 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service and read a resolution of appreciation for multiple retirees, listing staff members and years of service.
Finally, the board recognized newly appointed staff who had been previously hired and asked them to come forward: the list included a school psychologist, elementary and secondary teachers, special-education staff and a school counselor. The meeting closed with a motion into executive session for personnel matters.
