Stetson selectmen award Meeting House contract to Modern Decorators LLC, approve payrolls and staff raise

The Town of Stetson Selectmen voted Dec. 11 to award a Meeting House renovation contract to Modern Decorators LLC for $32,600 and approved routine payroll and expenditure warrants, including a personnel pay increase following an executive session.
Selectman Millard Butler opened the meeting and, after discussion of two bids, the board declined a motion to award the work to Country Mile Construction on a 0-3 vote. Butler then moved and Gene Trojano seconded a motion to hire Modern Decorators LLC at $32,600; the board approved that motion unanimously.
The board also approved the Nov. 13 meeting minutes (motion: Selectman Tammy Buswell; second: Selectman Jody Lyford). Bangor Payroll #10 and Bangor Payroll #11 were each approved on unanimous votes (motions by Jody Lyford; seconds by Gene Trojano). Expenditures #15 was approved with a 3-0 tally and one abstention by Selectman Gene Trojano.
During an executive session under statute 405-6(A) for personnel, the board unanimously voted that Karen Wilber had completed her probationary period as of Dec. 4 and would receive a raise to $18.00 per hour (motion: Millard Butler; second: Gene Trojano). The board had moved into executive session at 7:25 p.m. and reconvened at 7:27 p.m.
Other items on the agenda included signing a cemetery quitclaim deed for Powers, removing a community-solar item from the agenda, and a request to get estimates for a gutter at the Town Office after Dead River raised concerns about ice accumulating over furnace-room vent pipes. Committee reports noted that MacIntosh cut trees at Clarks Hill Cemetery and the state repaired the cemetery driveway entrance, and that regionalization talks for EMT/rescue and the fire department are ongoing and expected to take a couple of years.
