Crawford council reviews parks, pool and community building budgets at Aug. 6 workshop

The Crawford City Council reviewed draft fiscal year 2025–26 budgets for the city park, pool and community building at a workshop on Aug. 6, 2025, at the Crawford Library.
Mayor April Grant called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted and available in pamphlet form, led a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance. City Clerk Teri Miller recorded the proceedings.
The council examined the Park budget line by line. According to the workshop minutes, the Park requested use of a $1,500 grant to purchase BBQ stoves. Park staff noted that newer equipment would allow the department to cut roughly 50% of its part-time hours; the Park proposed that the resulting wage savings be applied to permanent employees’ pay.
Council members reviewed the Pool budget and discussed next fiscal year expenses on the assumption the pool will be operational. No formal action to open or close the pool was recorded during the workshop; expenses were presented as if the pool will run during FYE 2025–26.
The Community Building budget was reviewed in detail, with staff and councilors going through each line item and discussing needs for the coming year. The minutes state that each line item was reviewed, but do not specify further spending decisions at the workshop.
Council Member Christopher Dean made a motion to adjourn, which Council Member Dianne Gaston seconded. The Aug. 6, 2025, workshop adjourned at approximately 6:56 p.m.
