HR director asks Carroll County commissioners to shift employees to state 457(b) plan

HR Director Linda Matchett asked the Carroll County Board of Commissioners to require that county employees currently enrolled in a 457(b) plan through Nationwide transfer to the New Hampshire Public Employees 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan, saying the state plan has lower fees and would simplify administration.
Matchett told commissioners there are currently 10 employees enrolled in the Nationwide plan and said moving them to the state plan would relieve HR from managing two separate plans and save enrollees money on fees. Commissioners indicated general support for the proposal but directed that current enrollees be notified and given an opportunity to comment before the board votes to mandate the change.
No formal motion or vote to require the change was recorded during the Feb. 23 meeting. The board did not set a date for a final decision; commissioners asked staff to provide notice and follow-up information to affected employees prior to any binding action.
