Sullivan Parks and Recreation seeks volunteers, previews Sullivan Daze promotions and fundraising for skate park

The Sullivan Parks and Recreation Committee recorded multiple volunteer requests and event preparations during its July 2, 2024 meeting.
Committee members Bonnie Sparks and Misty Gleason told the group they are willing to help paint the gazebo stairs and to assist with trimming sumac at Gordon's Wharf; the committee continued seeking additional volunteers. The minutes note a volunteer was requested for the Aquatic Adventure Camp but that no decision was made because the camp will provide its own assistants.
The committee also discussed supporting Maine's Lifelong Communities Grant by adding a chess table at the playground and creating a small collection of tennis racquets available for checkout at the Sullivan Tennis Courts. To raise money for a proposed new skate park, the minutes record that Sullivan Singing Bridge T‑shirts and accessories will be sold at Sullivan Daze.
Under Old Business, Misty Gleason updated the committee on Sullivan Daze and emphasized the need for more volunteers; Yvette Grindle presented new yard signs and other promotional materials and distributed posters for local hanging. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
