Sullivan Select Board approves liquor-license addendum, awards road repair contract and extends Transfer Station hours

SULLIVAN — The Sullivan Select Board on July 8 approved several operational items and routine motions aimed at short-term service adjustments and infrastructure repairs.
At the start of the meeting Selectperson Erin Shanahan moved to accept the minutes of the June 10 meeting; Norman Bamford seconded and the motion passed, 3–0. The board then approved an addendum to the existing liquor license for Black Sheep LLC after Shanahan moved approval and Bamford seconded; the vote was 3–0.
On a separate agenda item, the board rejected an unidentified contractor’s bid to relocate several granite blocks from the Hastings property after local resident William Andrews offered to move and neatly stack the stones at no charge. Norman Bamford moved to reject the bid and accept Andrews’s offer; Erin Shanahan seconded and the motion passed, 3–0. Andrews told the board he planned to move the blocks on Saturday, July 13.
The board also accepted a bid from Cashley Builders to repair Upper Tunk Lake Road after a competing bidder withdrew. Norman Bamford moved to award the contract and Erin Shanahan seconded; the motion carried, 3–0.
In response to resident requests, Town Manager Ray Weintraub said the Transfer Station will be open earlier on Saturdays for a trial period. The board voted to extend Saturday hours from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. to 8 a.m.–3 p.m. until Labor Day and asked the attendant to record use during the two earlier hours; the motion passed, 3–0.
The meeting included other routine business: the Treasurer’s Warrant was reviewed but one warrant was held pending answers to two follow-up questions; the board added executive-session items invoking 1 MRSA § 405(6) subsections (A), (C) and (F); and the session adjourned at 7:35 p.m. after a short executive session. The final motion to adjourn passed 2–0.
What happens next: Cashley Builders will proceed with the Upper Tunk Lake Road work per the awarded bid; the Transfer Station attendant will monitor earlier Saturday usage and staff will return the findings to the Select Board. The granite blocks at the Hastings property will be relocated by William Andrews on or about July 13.
