CRAWFORD, Neb. — At a city budget workshop on Aug. 13, City Clerk Teri Miller presented General Fund budget items the city is considering for fiscal year 2025–26, including a new phone system, records digitization and potential software replacement.
Miller told the council she has included a proposal for a new phone system intended to lower the city’s telecommunications costs while offering improved features. She said staff is gathering a quote to digitize all of the city’s records, an effort that would move paper files to searchable digital form; Miller did not provide a vendor or cost estimate during the workshop.
Other items Miller listed as included in the General budget were the purchase of two chairs and a review of replacement options for the Simple City software the city currently uses for municipal accounting/records. Council members discussed these needs as part of the preparatory budget review; no formal approvals or contract awards were made at the workshop.
The council adjourned at approximately 7:42 p.m. Staff will return with cost estimates and vendor information to inform future budget decisions.
