The Desha County Quorum Court voted unanimously April 15 to pass Ordinance 2021-4, described in the meeting as an appropriation budget clean-up. County Clerk Valerie Donaldson read the ordinance in full; a motion to suspend the rules and read by title only for a second reading was made by JP Gene Weser and seconded by JP Ronnie Norris. Following a roll call, the court moved to final passage on a motion by Weser, seconded by Dollie Wilson; the roll call showed nine members in favor.
Earlier in the meeting the court approved the March minutes on a motion by Weser, seconded by Norris Sims, and approved the treasurer’s report on a motion by Weser, seconded by Ronnie Norris. Those procedural items passed unanimously.
Under new and other business, JP Dollie Wilson said she attended the annual JP association meeting and will provide a fuller report at the May meeting. Wilson also asked about sanitizing county buildings; the County Judge said sanitizing of the courthouse ceased when it reopened to the public, but that both County Health Offices requested continued sanitizing and that he renewed a contract with Mrs. Baxter to sanitize those health offices. The Judge also reported he had received two bids for John Deere mowers.
A motion to adjourn by JP Gene Weser, seconded by JP Ronnie Norris, passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.
