Elementary 'Sound Masters' choir performs at Smith-Green board meeting

At the Dec. 15, 2025, Smith-Green Community Schools board meeting, a group of fourth- and fifth-grade students known as the Sound Masters gave a short presentation and performed for the board.
Mr. Polley introduced the 24-member group and said the choir meets once a week during the school’s enrichment period. He told the board the students had already performed at a Veterans Day assembly and the town’s Christmas tree lighting and that the group plans to appear at the FAME (Foundation for Art, Music and Education) Festival on March 14–15 and at the district 4th–5th grade concert on March 19.
Student Charlotte described the caroling event: “When we were doing the car, a lot of us couldn't even flip the pages ’cause our fingers are so cold,” and Zoe Crider said there was “secret choreography” during the performance. The board played a short recorded clip of the group to demonstrate their rehearsal sound.
Superintendent and board members praised the students’ community appearances and encouraged future performances at local venues and a possible nursing-home visit to expand community engagement.
The presentation concluded with board thanks to the students and staff involved; the board then proceeded to routine business.
