South Whitley approves clerk's office hours change, routine finances; new K9 sworn in

South Whitley — The Town Council on Oct. 8 approved a change to the Clerk-Treasurer's Office hours, accepted routine financial approvals, and heard a police department personnel update.
Clerk-Treasurer Alyssa Knepple told the council the office will change hours beginning Jan. 1, 2025, to 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to better accommodate staff schedules; Councilman Trey Weber moved to accept the change, Councilman Brock Waterson seconded, and the motion passed 2-0.
The council also approved the regular meeting minutes from Sept. 24, Accounts Payable Vouchers totaling $157,252.90, and payroll for the weeks ending Sept. 30 ($12,029.15) and Oct. 7 ($11,899.51). Each item was moved by Weber, seconded by Waterson, and recorded as passing 2-0.
Separately, Town Marshal Mikel Vandevender swore in a new K9 officer, Letty, who will be partnered with Officer Fannin after K9 Jaycee was medically retired. The minutes record the swearing-in but show no formal council vote was required.
Vice President Brock Waterson adjourned the meeting at 6:43 p.m.
