IMPA presents service update to South Whitley, proposes pole work at AG Plus to reduce outages

Representatives from IMPA presented a half‑time report to the South Whitley Town Council on Oct. 22 and outlined proposed electrical improvements aimed at reducing outages.
Mike Adams and Dirk Garriott of IMPA described services provided to the town, compared recent performance to prior years and said IMPA is working to increase its presence in northeastern Indiana by contracting with additional communities. They proposed rerouting and updating electrical lines at AG Plus and installing new poles as part of that work. IMPA representatives asked to coordinate with Utility Supervisor Kent Slater on maintenance checks of light poles and related equipment to reduce outages.
IMPA also described implementing a ‘‘readiness status’’ to inform communities about estimated restoration times during natural disasters or extreme weather events; council members said having clearer restoration estimates would improve the town’s emergency communications. There was no vote on IMPA’s proposals; council members indicated they would work with Kent Slater and town staff to evaluate next steps and scheduling.
The presentation is intended to inform future coordination between the town and IMPA on pole replacement, maintenance checks, and outage response practices.
